I started taking pictures in high school. I am not sure if I was driven by a passion or by the fact that I got to roam the halls during school and stand on the football field during games. Whatever the reason, I can’t imagine doing anything else. In college I was lucky enough to go on Semester at Sea where I traveled the world where I imagined myself as a National Geographic photographer. And as a 22-year-old I couldn’t have been happier. After college I started working with newspapers in Phoenix as a photojournalist. Once again, I was over-the-moon excited with my career choice! I used to wear my East Valley Tribune press pass like a badge of honor. The first few weeks I would ‘forget’ to take it off after a shoot and go out still wearing it to let everyone know I was a photojournalist. I have now progressed into photographing families, working with businesses, shooting events, etc.
I cannot imagine doing anything else for a career. I have spent over 20 years working on this and I still have such JOY at each and every shoot. This profession is an on-going learning process and to see how my shooting over the years is to see growth.
I’ll leave you with a few personal details. I heart my Boston Terrier, Hoover. I’ve been told he is so ugly that he comes back to being cute again. I love being outside anything from training for a triathlon to drinking wine on a patio and I love love love to travel!! I get to travel the country for work – with a lot of my clients being in all different spots in the US and I also love getting outside the country and seeing all that there is out there!
My style is to capture your true selves in a beautiful way!
